With a background in psychology (B.Sc.) as well as cognitive and systems neuroscience (M.Sc.), I specialized in neuroimaging methods and brain network connectivity in psychiatric disorders. Capitalizing on this knowledge in the Bergmann Lab, I will investigate the connectivity-informed targeting of memory- and emotion-relevant deep brain structures (especially vmPFC) via TMS and concurrent fMRI. Futhermore, in close collaboration with the Kalisch Lab, I will look into the oscillatory signatures and causal role of spontaneous vmPFC reactivations in fear extinction memory consolidation using simultaneous EEG-fMRI and TMS-fMRI, respectively. The main aim and focus of my research is to improve therapy of psychiatric (e.g. fear- and anxiety-related) disorders through neurostimulation.
