Steven D. Pillen

PhD Candidate

Neurostimulation Group

Leibniz Institute for Resilience Research (LIR), Mainz, Germany

After completing a Bachelor’s of Psychology at Creighton University in 2010, Steven Pillen developed programming and data analysis skills working for labs at University of California, San Diego and the University of Washington at Seattle.  During this time he developed several brain-computer interfaces and experimental protocols in Python MATLAB using tools ranging from EEG-based neurofeedback to simultaneous TMS-EEG and tDCS.  Steven’s work in the lab of Til Ole Bergmann builds on this foundation by using phase-locked, closed-loop brain stimulation as a method of investigating mechanisms of plasticity in the brain.
