I am interested in combining methods of non-invasive brain stimulation like TMS with electrophysiological and neuroimaging techniques, ideally in a brain-state dependent manner, in order to study memory, sleep, synaptic or cross-modal plasticity, and visuospatial perception. I am also passionate about open science, reproducability and sharing skills and tools.
I obtained my BSc with honours in Psychology at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and my MSc in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience at Maastricht University, Netherlands, where I specialised in Cognitive Neuroscience.
During my PhD in Translational Biomedicine within Prof. Dr. Til Ole Bergmann’s Neurostimulation Group I am using real-time EEG-spindle-(phase-)triggered TMS to study human memory consolidation during sleep. My goals are to investigate the neuronal mechanisms underlying memory consolidation and synaptic plasticity, and to causally test the hypothesised key role of spindles in the reactivation of memory traces.
